Meet Brandon Poulos: The Stone Oak Shooting and His Past
San Antonio, TX, USAThursday, January 23, 2025
Despite being charged with assault and driving while intoxicated, Poulos was released on bond the next day. However, he was ordered by a judge not to possess or use firearms. This restriction did not prevent the events that unfolded last Wednesday.
The shooting began as a call for a potential suicide in progress. As officers arrived at the scene, they were met with gunfire. The first four officers were shot, and later, three more were struck. All seven officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Poulos had an active warrant from Comal County for violating bond conditions and a protective order. The incident ended with Poulos found dead in an apartment, but it remains unclear whether his death was by self-inflicted gunshot wounds or police gunfire.
The event has raised questions about mental health and the importance of support for those in crisis. It serves as a reminder of the complexities involved in these situations and the critical need for timely intervention.
