Meet Caoimhe Bray: The Youngest WBBL Player with a Bright Future

Fifteen-year-old Caoimhe Bray just made history in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL)! Hailing from the picturesque Hunter Region in New South Wales, Caoimhe was born with a natural talent for sports. She started playing cricket at just eight years old and has been impressing everyone ever since. Her big moment came this October when she played her first WBBL match for the Sydney Sixers, making her the youngest player ever in the tournament. Talk about making a splash! Caoimhe shared the spotlight with her idol, Ellyse Perry. In her first over, she surprised everyone by dismissing the hard-hitting West Indian player Deandra Dottin, who had been crushing it until then. But Caoimhe didn’t stop there. She also played a crucial role in securing a win for her team, scoring 12 runs off just five balls. This included a boundary off England’s Alice Capsey and a stunning cover drive against Sophie Molineux, which helped the Sixers clinch a three-wicket victory.

Before her WBBL debut, Caoimhe was already making waves in youth cricket. She scored an incredible 955 runs in the NSW Under-18 Brewer Shield and even hit 202 runs in a single game. Her talent doesn’t stop at cricket though. Caoimhe is also a talented soccer goalkeeper. She made her international debut at just 14 years old and was even named Goalkeeper of the Tournament at the National Youth Championships for Girls. Caoimhe has a lot of potential and seems to be on the right track. She’s shown her all-round skills in cricket, both in batting and bowling. Even in soccer, her skills are outstanding. It’s amazing how she balances her sports with her studies as a dedicated Year 9 student. Her dedication and discipline are truly inspiring.
