Two ships from Mexico arrived in Havana Harbor on a Thursday morning, loaded with supplies to aid Cuba.

This came after the U.S. threatened to punish countries sending oil to Cuba.

The Arrival

One of the ships, the Papaloapan, carried large packages on its deck. It sailed past the historic El Morro castle before entering the calm waters of the harbor.

Cuba's Struggles

Cuba is facing tough economic times. The government has imposed strict rules on food and fuel due to the U.S. trying to cut off Cuba's fuel supply.

U.S. Sanctions

In January, the U.S. announced it would tax countries sending oil to Cuba, claiming Cuba is a threat. Cuba denies this.

Mexico's Support

Mexico stopped sending oil to Cuba last month but continues to provide aid. Ediberto Rodriguez, a witness, thanked Mexico for not abandoning Cuba despite U.S. pressure.

More Aid on the Way

Mexico's leader, Claudia Sheinbaum, promised more help is coming soon.
