A Wild Weather Ride

The year 2025 was quite a ride for Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The weather was all over the place, from heavy snow to flash floods and even some unusually warm days.

Record-Breaking Snowfall

The National Weather Service in Marquette took a look back at the year's wild weather. They noted that the Negaunee Township office saw over 242 inches of snow. That's a lot!

Temperature Extremes

But it wasn't all about the snow. There were also a few days that hit 90 degrees. Plus, there were more than 20 days with temperatures dropping below zero.

Stormy Conditions

And let's not forget the storms. There were:

  • 4 blizzard warnings
  • 69 gale warnings on Lake Superior
  • Flash floods also made an appearance, adding to the mix of extreme weather events.

Record-Setting Events

The weather didn't just break records for snow and heat. It also set nearly 30 daily temperature and precipitation records. This included a March record for single-day precipitation, with 2.74 inches of melted sleet and snow falling on the 30th.

Overall Rankings

Looking at the big picture, 2025 ranked just inside the top 20 for temperature and precipitation out of 64 years of records. But with a late surge in snowfall, it managed to sneak into the top 10 for the snowiest calendar years.
