In Moldova, young people are facing significant challenges. Recently, over 80 psychologists and volunteers gathered to address two critical issues: teen pregnancies and mental health struggles.
Alarming Statistics
- Teen Pregnancies:
- 1,200 girls under 18 become mothers each year.
- 80% of cases occur in rural areas.
Experts emphasize the need for better sex education and accessible counseling.
- Mental Health:
- 1 in 3 teens frequently feel irritable or moody.
- 1 in 4 teens show signs of anxiety.
- These are serious warning signs that require attention.
Workshop Focus
The workshop aimed to:
- Help teens open up about difficult topics, including abuse and suicidal thoughts.
- Equip schools to prevent teen pregnancies and suicides.
Goal: Protecting and Supporting Youth
The ultimate objective is to ensure that all young people have:
- A safe environment to grow up.
- Access to free and confidential mental health support.
Sweden-Supported Program
This workshop was part of a larger initiative backed by Sweden, promoting human rights across the Nistru River, including the separatist region of Transnistria.
