Muscle Activation in Hip vs Knee: A Student Study
Tuesday, December 17, 2024
Turns out, the side-lying clam-shell was a champ at making the gluteus maximus (GMax) work harder than the adductor longus (AL). The hip hike exercise was great for the gluteus medius (GMed) compared to the adductor longus (AL). As for the knee muscles, the VL/VM ratio varied but stayed close to 1, showing balanced activation.
So, if you're looking to target hip muscles more, maybe try the side-lying clam-shell or hip hike. But remember, every body is different, and what works for one might not work for another.
