Music Education Gets a Boost from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Save the Music has been a beacon of hope for music education, having donated nearly $78 million in instruments and equipment to over 2,800 schools. Their initiatives, such as the J Dilla Music Technology Grant, provide high school students with access to cutting-edge music technology. Teachers have noted that these programs boost student excitement and improve attendance.

A Million-Dollar Commitment

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is kicking off the partnership with a $1 million grant. They also plan to engage renowned artists like Sheryl Crow, Harry Styles, and Olivia Rodrigo to inspire students and advocate for the importance of music education. The goal is to garner political and governmental attention to ensure music programs remain a staple in schools.

A Shift in Support

Save the Music previously received substantial backing from VH1, where founder John Sykes served as president. Legendary artists like Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston performed for the cause on VH1. However, as Paramount's focus shifted away from VH1, Save the Music had to seek alternative funding sources. They have since received support from TikTok, Meta, Amazon, and major event promoters.
