NASA's Next Giant Leap: Exploring the Moon's South Pole
Lunar South PoleTuesday, October 29, 2024
At the Kennedy Space Center, teams are working hard to make this happen by 2025. This mission, called Artemis III, will be the first time humans go to the moon in over 50 years! They'll use a special rocket called SLS to launch astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Kristina Koch, and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen. They'll spend about 10 days in an Orion spacecraft, checking out the moon.
Dr. Ken Kremer from Space Up Close says this trip will teach us a lot about the moon today and its history. Plus, finding water on the moon could mean we don't have to carry as much stuff from Earth, which saves money and weight. Isn't that cool?
