NASA's Parker Solar Probe: A Sun-Touching Adventure
USAMonday, December 23, 2024
NASA says everything is ready for the big event on December 24 at 06:53 EST. After the flyby, the probe will send a beacon tone on December 27 to confirm it's still working. This is like exploring uncharted territory! No human-made object has ever been this close to a star.
But there's a catch. The probe has a limited amount of fuel for its thrusters, which help protect it from the Sun's intense heat. Eventually, it will run out, and the probe will meet a fiery end. Even so, it will have achieved something incredible and given us valuable information about our star.
