NASCAR’s Big Comeback: A Return to Bowman Gray After 54 Years
Winston-Salem, USAWednesday, January 29, 2025
The return to Bowman Gray is a massive undertaking, partly funded by a $530, 020 grant from North Carolina’s Motorsports Relief Fund. The track has undergone modifications to ensure safety and enhance the experience for fans. New lighting and SAFER barriers are just some of the upgrades. The main event, a 200-lap feature race, will take place on February 2, 2025, and offers drivers a mid-race break to make vital adjustments. This hasn’t gone unnoticed. Veteran driver Zack Burick believes this event could boost local businesses in the long term, potentially attracting more out-of-town visitors to the weekly races.
The future of the event, however, isn’t completely in the clear. Weather forecasts predict a 30% chance of rain during both the qualifying and the main event days. This could pose a challenge, but NASCAR is prepared. Goodyear has designed wet-weather tires that could keep the race on track, even in damp conditions. Despite the potential weather hiccups, the anticipation remains high. Fans, sponsors, and drivers are eager to see NASCAR’s historic return to Bowman Gray go without a hitch.
