Negotiators, New Stories: A Film World Built on Conflict
MFF & CO has secured the rights to William Ury’s book Possible, a guide that turns disagreement into teamwork. The studio plans to weave the negotiator’s methods—such as the Path to Possible, a Victory Speech, and a strategy called The Balcony—into a fictional universe.
Instead of following the book’s layout, the adaptation will start with an anthropologist who quietly settles disputes in the most dangerous places. Her work highlights both world‑shifting politics and the personal toll on those who mediate peace.
Production Team
- Estela Renner & Marcos Nisti – founders of MFF & CO, producers
- William Ury – executive producer
- Alexandre Chade – president of the Brazilian branch of Abraham’s Path, co‑producer
- Miura Kite – Global Content chief, praising Ury’s influence on leaders worldwide
Vision
Ury says the story is about showing people that conflict need not end in defeat; it can open doors to understanding. “Every fight hides fears, needs and hopes,” he notes, stressing the human side behind headlines.
Nisti added that stories can create dialogue where it feels impossible. He sees Possible as a chance to explore hope in a polarized era, using scale and imagination.
Studio Background
The Los Angeles studio grew from Maria Farinha Filmes, a Brazilian company that made the hit series Ararunas and the documentary series The Beginning of Life. Their current lineup includes projects like Pegasus, Fail‑Safe, and Esperanza.
Earlier this year, MFF & CO announced that U.S. writers Alexander Maggio, Jenny Lynn, and Ted Sullivan will adapt popular Brazilian telenovelas for English‑speaking audiences—a partnership first revealed in August 2025.
