Ever wanted a helping hand in your favorite games? Nvidia and Krafton are making that happen with “co-playable characters, ” or CPCs, debuted at CES 2025. These AI-driven buddies will first show up in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and inZOI, a life simulator akin to The Sims.
PUBG is calling its AI helper PUBG Ally. This character will join solo players in battle, search for items, and even chat with you using an AI-generated voice. No more lonely drops in PUBG!
Over in inZOI, AI companions are called “Smart Zoi. ” They’ll act more realistically than standard non-player characters (NPCs). Smart Zoi can feed hungry NPCs, help lost ones find their way, and encourage street performers. It’ll also learn from its actions, improving its behavior daily.
Both PUBG Ally and Smart Zoi use small language models built with Nvidia Ace, running directly on your device. Krafton’s CEO believes these AI innovations will transform gaming experiences.
PUBG: Battlegrounds is already free on PC and consoles, while inZOI launches on Steam on March 28. Both games will introduce these AI companions soon, but exact dates are still unknown.
