New Casino Jumps to Second in State for Revenue and Visitors
Rockford, IL, USA,Wednesday, October 9, 2024
September was a big month with concerts from Brad Paisley, Teddy Swims, and Brian McKnight drawing in crowds. All this excitement helped Hard Rock leapfrog many other casinos in the Chicago area, except for Rivers. In fact, they almost tripled their business compared to the month before.
Before this, in August, the temporary casino had $5.7 million in revenue and about 57,000 visitors. That put it in the middle of the pack among Illinois’ 15 casinos. But now, with the permanent facility, it's making a much bigger impact.
Meanwhile, Bally’s Chicago is also expanding. They opened a temporary facility at Medinah Temple in September 2023 and are building a permanent casino on the site of the Tribune Publishing plant. This big project includes an exhibition hall, a hotel, a theater, restaurants, and lots of gaming positions. They’re optimistic despite a slight dip in revenue and visitors in September.
Rivers Casino remains at the top, with $41.5 million in revenue and over 247,000 visitors. The competition is fierce in Illinois, but Hard Rock Rockford is holding its own. It's a positive sign for the gambling industry in the state.
