New Chapter for Ragazzi Boys Chorus

The group that has filled the Bay Area with young voices for four decades is about to change its leadership. Kent Jue, who has guided the chorus for 25 years, announced that he will step down as artistic and executive director in August 2027. His departure comes after the choir’s 40th anniversary season, a milestone that marked its founding in 1987. Jue took over from the original founder eight years ago, and during his tenure he shaped many of the chorus’s key programs. He set up the annual budget, managed scholarship funds, and helped build a reputation for musical excellence among boys aged five to eighteen. The chorus now serves over 230 choristers from more than a hundred schools across thirty Bay Area communities.

The search for Jue’s successor is already underway. The organization plans to hold a national competition to find someone who can carry on the chorus’s tradition while bringing fresh ideas. The new director will face the challenge of keeping the group vibrant and relevant for future generations. Jue expressed excitement about his next chapter, saying he looks forward to traveling and pursuing other interests. He also noted that a part of his heart will always remain with the chorus’s lively community. His departure is seen as an opportunity for growth and renewal.
