New KLM Jets Face Business‑Class Delay
NetherlandsThursday, June 18, 2026
This delivery is part of KLM’s €7 billion plan to modernise its fleet. The new wide‑body jets will first serve popular North American routes before expanding worldwide, alongside newer narrow‑body models for city hops.
Other airlines face similar setbacks. Delta Air Lines has trouble getting its A321 Neo “premium” seats certified, and Lufthansa had to block many seats on new 787s. In October 2025, a batch of Boeing 787‑9s was grounded because of issues with the Allegris business class.
The pandemic has pushed airlines to upgrade cabins, offering more comfort and technology. Yet regulators must approve every new design, which can slow down the rollout of luxury features. They test seats for safety up to 16 G’s to ensure passenger protection in emergencies.
