New Media Venture Begins with 'Taxi Driver' at Film Bazaar

Indian businessman Prasanna Ajarekar has just launched Anashwar Media and Entertainment. They're starting big, with director Nikhil Mahajan's new film, "Taxi Driver, " at the Film Bazaar event. This movie tells the story of a taxi driver and a thief who find out they have a past connection. Filming is set to begin in early 2025, with a release planned for early 2026. Ajarekar is excited about this business. He met Mahajan and Suhrud Godbole through Shrirang Godbole and thought their work was impressive. He sees cinema as a long-term commitment and wants to create a modern cinematic ecosystem in India. "Taxi Driver" is just the beginning.

This film is different from Mahajan's previous work. His latest, "Raavsaheb, " is an environmental thriller showing at the International Film Festival of India in Goa. Before that, he made a family drama called "Godavari. " Mahajan is thrilled to work on "Taxi Driver. " He thanks Ajarekar for believing in the story and supporting it. This project continues Mahajan's collaboration with producer Suhrud Godbole. They've worked together since 2009 on films like "Pune 52, " "Baji, " and "June. " Godbole is happy to have Ajarekar on board, as he understands their creative vision. Plus, Ajarekar is also investing in "Raavsaheb. " Film Bazaar, where "Taxi Driver" is being launched, has supported the team's previous Marathi language films. It's part of the International Film Festival of India, happening from November 20 to 28.
