A fresh startup in Albuquerque has just landed a cool $2.5 million to shake up the world of DNA and RNA sequencing. This isn't just any tech—it's the kind that could change how we tackle diseases, from custom cancer treatments to predicting health risks.

The Brains Behind the Innovation

The brains behind Daisy Genomics, Emily Milsovic, says the current methods for gathering genetic data are slow and not very efficient.

"Right now, getting this data is a hassle. It takes days of prep work, and even then, you don't get all the info you need."

Their solution? A brand-new way to read DNA using special chips and spectroscopy that's both easier and more thorough.

From Armonica Technologies to Daisy Genomics

Daisy Genomics wasn't always called that—it used to go by Armonica Technologies. The big investment came from Cottonwood Technology Fund and Tramway Venture Partners, both big names in New Mexico. This cash will help them:

  • Take their prototypes to the next level
  • Improve their chips
  • Team up with top universities and diagnostic companies

New Mexico's Bet on Biosciences

New Mexico is betting big on the biosciences, and Daisy Genomics is right in the middle of it. The state's research universities and national labs make it a hotspot for innovation. With over 35,000 people already working in the field, the potential is huge.

Doubling Down on Albuquerque

Unlike many startups that eventually move out of state, Daisy Genomics is doubling down on Albuquerque.

"We love the ecosystem here. New Mexico has what it takes to become a major biotech hub, and we want to be part of that."
