New Music Hub and Grocery Hub Take Shape Near Mesa Airport
In southeast Mesa, a fresh wave of development is arriving along Ray Road and Loop 202. A large distribution center for Potato Barn, a furniture retailer that is now moving beyond local borders, is already underway. The same block will soon host the first stage of a two‑story concert venue called The Nox, designed to bring live entertainment to an area that has felt overlooked.
The Nox will sit next to the Potato Barn site, sharing a parking lot that will help manage crowds during shows.
What The Nox Offers
- Capacity: up to 2,000 standing attendees or 1,000 seated guests
- Events: concerts, comedy nights, dinner theatre, corporate events, and studio services
- Facilities: an on‑site recording and video production studio
The building’s designers chose an industrial‑chic look, echoing historic Chicago warehouses with brick walls and arched openings.
Ownership & Vision
The Bongiorno family owns both the furniture chain and The Nox, working with Streamline Companies. Their goal is to bring a cultural destination to the southeast Valley that can host large crowds while fitting in with the industrial character of the neighborhood.
A Curious Past
- 2018: Plans surfaced for a gun range on the three‑acre lot (never materialized)
- 2023: Current owners purchased the land for $2.6 million
- 2024: Permit received to build the concert hall
- 2026: Construction slated to begin
- Late 2027: Expected opening
Broader Impact
The project reflects a growing trend of mixed‑use developments that combine commercial logistics with entertainment spaces, aiming to revitalize industrial corridors and serve local communities.
