New York's Big Park Plan: A Look at Metropolitan Park
Queens, New York, USAMonday, October 7, 2024
“We want New Yorkers to see what's possible for their city,” said Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International. He's proud of the project’s potential to create jobs and lasting memories. Cohen added that it’s time for New York City to have a park that truly reflects its greatness.
Besides the 20 acres of new public park space, there will be community athletic fields and playgrounds covering 5 acres. A special fund is set up to support local nonprofits serving Queens communities. The project also includes better road networks, bike paths, and parking infrastructure. Plus, it’s designed with climate readiness in mind, including flood mitigation measures.
This park will not only provide a place for recreation but will also connect people to the waterfront and surrounding community. It's an ambitious project that promises to change the landscape of New York City.
