Her allies reveal that since March, there's been a push from both Washington and New York Republicans to challenge the current governor, Kathy Hochul. They see Hochul as a weak link and believe Stefanik could turn the state's political landscape on its head.  The congresswoman herself has not confirmed or denied these rumors.
