Newt Gingrich: Mass Deportations? Not Happening Anytime Soon!
USAMonday, January 13, 2025
One big question is what happens to the Dreamers—people brought to the US as kids who are now undocumented. Some of them have achieved a lot and speak only English. Gingrich thinks it's silly to deport them. He suggests a middle ground that respects both national security and human concerns.
Gingrich, now 81, has been influential in US politics. He speaks highly of immigrants who have contributed a lot to public life. His view is that if people are legally in the US, it's difficult to deport them. But for those without legal status, it’s much easier.
He feels the focus should be on giving Dreamers legal status. This way, it becomes simpler to handle immigration. Gingrich also warns that if the public hears too many sad stories about deportations, support for such programs will drop.
