NFL Offseason Additions: Who Will Make the Biggest Impact?
NFLFriday, September 13, 2024
Saquon Barkley, who joined the Philadelphia Eagles from the New York Giants, has already started to make an impact, impressing in his first outing with two rushing touchdowns and one in the air. Jason Bell, an expert analyst, believes Barkley will be the pick of new offseason additions, potentially even making a case for league MVP. "I've got to go with Saquon Barkley, because I've already said he could be MVP. I just think what he did for the running backs - everybody was talking about devaluing the position. This guy is electric. You heard what the Giants said about him when he left, he was the best player on the team. The fans loved him. I think he could be really active for them and really light it up."
Kirk Cousins, who signed with the Atlanta Falcons, is another key addition, despite the team also drafting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. in the 2024 NFL Draft. According to Neil Reynolds, a Sky Sports lead presenter, Cousins will have a huge impact, leading the charge to the playoffs. "Although they went and drafted a quarterback immediately after signing him, I think Kirk Cousins of the Falcons will have a huge impact. Every season he's finished or played the entirety of, he has thrown for more than 4000 yards. So he has his critics, but he always produces. So, I think he's going to make the Falcons a playoff team. They haven't been there in six years."
What if these assumptions are wrong? What if the Ravens' offense doesn't gel with Henry, or Jacobs doesn't fill the hole in the Packers' backfield? What if Barkley's electric play doesn't translate to MVP-level production, or Cousins struggles to lead the Falcons to the playoffs?
