Salary Cap Adjustments
- Playoff Rules: Starting in the 2026-27 season, teams will face stricter salary cap rules during the playoffs to prevent loopholes.

- Rising Minimum Salary: The minimum salary will increase annually, starting at $850,000 and reaching $1 million by the 2029-30 season.
- Playoff Fund Growth: The playoff fund will grow to $40 million by the end of the agreement.
Additional Rule Changes
- Dress Code: Teams can no longer enforce dress codes on players.
- Neck Protection: All players must wear neck protection.
- Backup Goaltenders: Teams can now have a permanent backup goalie.
- Loan Restrictions: Teams cannot loan players to the minors without them playing a game.
- Contract Payments: Players can no longer defer payments in their contracts.
Olympic Participation & Retired Players
- Olympic Agreement: The NHL and the players' association have extended the agreement for players to participate in the Olympics until the 2030 Games.
- Healthcare Fund: A fund will be established to assist retired players with emergency healthcare.
