Norby Williamson's New Chapter: From ESPN's Mailroom to Main Street Sports

After a legendary run of nearly 40 years at ESPN, Norby Williamson has taken on a new challenge. He's now part of the Main Street Sports Group, ready to oversee production for the FanDuel Sports Network. This move comes after a stint at ESPN that started in the mailroom and rose to the top executive positions. The Main Street Sports Group, previously known as Diamond Sports Group, manages regional sports rights for 13 NBA, 8 NHL, and 8 MLB teams. They've recently struck a single-game streaming deal with Amazon, so there's a lot of exciting content up ahead.

Williamson's new role is a significant shift from his time at ESPN, where he oversaw NFL and college football live game and studio content. But it didn't end smoothly — he had some disagreements with ESPN's top brass and eventually parted ways. Pat McAfee, a former NFL player turned podcaster, had some public clashes with Williamson and other ESPN talent over the years. Williamson's departure from ESPN marked a big change, but it seems he's ready for what's next. “I’m grateful for the opportunities I had at ESPN, ” Williamson shared in a memo when he left. “The hard work and creativity of the team there made the company what it is today. ”
