North Korea Destroys Old Roads, Tensions Rise
Korea, Seoul, SouthTuesday, October 15, 2024
Kim Jong Un wants to cut ties with South Korea and make it their enemy. This is a big change from their old goal of peacefully uniting the two Koreas. In the 2000s, the two countries had reconnected some roads and train tracks. But these stopped working because they couldn't agree on North Korea's nuclear program and other issues.
Recently, North Korea said they would close their border with South Korea and build defenses. South Korean officials said North Korea has been adding anti-tank barriers and mines along the border since the start of the year. They also removed lights from the roads and took out parts of the train tracks.
