Novo Coffee: A New Chapter Begins in Congress Park

In a surprising move, Novo Coffee bid adieu to its Highland location. The closure came about due to a sharp increase in rent. It had been a decade since they first opened in that spot. This was not the end of the road for Novo, though. They quickly found a new home in Congress Park. This 1, 200 square foot space used to be a coffee shop. So, the infrastructure was already there which helped. The new location is situated at 1200 Clayton Street. It opened its doors on February 8th, one month after shutting down the Highland location. Most of the staff were able to stay with the company. It helped that the company has a strong following in the area and the timing worked out. A partnership with Block Distilling in RiNo had already brought Novo to the world of daytime concepts. They did this with their 'Vacancy' project in October. This was to help keep the space busy during slower hours of the day. So, this was not the only move Novo was making. The new Congress Park location is the fourth coffee shop in Colorado for Novo. The company has been a staple in Denver. They have a roastery in RiNo and shops in Cheeseman Park and downtown. They also do business in DIA. The new location was previously House of CoPa. The new shop is spacious and bright. It has two glass garage doors. The rebranding brought in bright colors to the space. The menu is consistent across all Novo locations. There is no beer at the Congress Park location. The hours are the same as the other outlets. This was a lesson learned during the pandemic. The company realized that the 5 o'clock hour was best for business.

Novo serves pastries from Rebel Bread and breakfast burritos from Dis Burrito at all locations. New to the Congress Park location is the possibility of lunch sandwiches and paninis from Spruce Confections. The community in Congress Park is excited to have a coffee shop in the area. They have been chasing the company to come in for a while. With the new location in Congress Park, a new event is being held. It is on the 16th of February and is called "Risk & Rules: A Coffee Cocktail Experience". There will be three beverages. This is a preparation for the upcoming U. S. Coffee in Good Spirits competition. The event will feature a judge’s table. The six ticket holders will experience the presentation up close. It is free to attend. There will be samples of the drinks plus small bites from Pit Fiend and raffles. All proceeds go to Prodigy Coffeehouse. As for the Highland neighborhood, Jake Brodsky, co-founder and president of Novo Coffee, is hopeful about a comeback. They are not giving up on northwest Denver. There is a strong following in this area. The community has really shown support for Novo. They may not be back in the same space. But Jamie is hopeful about a return. The new Congress Park location is a bright spot for Novo. They have a lot to offer. The coffee shop has a strong following. The community is excited. The future looks bright for Novo Coffee.
