The paper has a clear process for placing an obituary. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth submission:
1. Submit Your Request
- Email: [email protected]
- Required Details:
- Your full name, address, and phone numbers (include an alternate number if available)
- Deceased’s full name
- A brief text for the notice
- Photo in JPEG or PDF format (other image types may be accepted with confirmation)
2. Choose the Run Length
- Pricing:
- First 12 lines: $162
- Each additional line: $12
- Notices longer than 40 lines receive a 7.5% discount per line
- Discounts:
- Multiple days: cost drops if you select more than one day
- Second run: 20% discount on both placements
- Third notice (if submitted together): free
Note: If a photo is used, it must appear on every selected day to qualify for the discount.
3. Verify Death
- Provide either:
- Funeral home phone number
- Death certificate
- If the body was donated to an anatomy program, include that program’s phone number.
The obituary desk will confirm details with the funeral service during normal business hours.
4. Proof and Approval
- The paper will send a proof via fax or email before publication.
- Check carefully for errors and inform the desk of any changes before the daily deadline.
- Once approved, payment is required by phone:
- Credit card payments accepted only over the phone (security regulations)
- Electronic transfers possible with routing and account numbers
5. Additional Notes
- Photos: $125 per day
- Memoriam Notices: Rates differ; contact the desk for details.
- Deadlines: Must be met to ensure publication on the requested day.
- Office Hours: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM (closed weekends and holidays).
