Old Parkland Welcomes New Space‑Tech Investor

Oak Lawn, Texas, Dallas, USASaturday, April 25, 2026

Balerion Space Ventures, a young Dallas firm that backs space and defense startups, has chosen to set up shop at the historic Old Parkland campus in Oak Lawn.

Founded in 2022, Balerion has already invested in more than a dozen tech firms working on satellites, AI, and national security. The move was driven by Old Parkland’s rise as a financial hub and its reputation for serious capital.

“Being on this campus lets us meet face‑to‑face with the teams we back,” a Balerion partner explained.

The exact start date for the new office remains unclear, and the firm has not answered questions from local reporters. Balerion recently hired a chief financial officer and is close to closing a $200 million fund.

This expansion comes as the global space market grows rapidly, from satellite networks to potential asteroid mining. In 2023 the worldwide space economy hit $630 billion, and analysts expect it to reach $1.8 trillion by 2035. Related stocks have surged, with some exchange‑traded funds climbing over 100 % in a year.

Old Parkland itself has a long history. It began as a teaching hospital in the 1800s, was bought by Crow Holdings in 2006, and transformed into a modern business campus. Recently, NYSE Texas announced it would locate its headquarters on the same property, adding to the area’s financial prestige.

The campus now hosts a mix of companies, making it an attractive spot for investors like Balerion who want to be close to the next wave of space innovation.
