OnePlus’ New AI Features Arrive with OxygenOS 15

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the tech industry, and OnePlus is jumping on board with OxygenOS 15. The update brings a suite of new AI-powered features under the name "OnePlus AI. " Unlike previous updates that had fancy names like "Aquamorphic Design" and "Trinity Engine, " this time, OnePlus is keeping it simple. The focus of OxygenOS 15 is on three main areas: AI, speed, and visual changes. OnePlus is betting big on generative AI for photo editing. Features like AI Detail Boost, which recovers lost photo details, and AI Reflection Eraser, which removes unwanted reflections from surfaces, are some of the new tools. There's also AI Unblur, which sharpens images. While these features aren't entirely new, competition can drive improvements.

The OnePlus AI suite also includes AI-recommended replies and AI Notes. Gemini, the native voice assistant, will be a part of this too. OnePlus is also rolling out Intelligent Search, which helps find content across settings, files, and notes quickly. Additionally, there's a Pass Scan feature for digitizing physical documents. Interestingly, most (if not all) of these AI features will be cloud-based. This raises questions about the usefulness of AndesGPT, an AI model developed for brands like OnePlus and OPPO. There aren’t yet any features that showcase its on-device AI processing capabilities.
