Oops! Bombs Drop on the Wrong Place
Pocheon, South KoreaThursday, March 6, 2025
Pocheon's mayor, Paek Young-hyun, didn't hold back. He called the bombings "awful" and urged the military to halt drills until they can ensure safety. The military listened and suspended all live-fire drills across South Korea. They'll resume once they understand the cause of the accident and can prevent it from happening again.
The disaster response department in Pocheon reported that six civilians and two soldiers were injured. Four of the injured civilians were in serious condition, including two foreigners from Thailand and Myanmar. The damage included three houses, a Catholic church, and a greenhouse, but none were directly hit by the bombs.
This incident raises questions about safety protocols and the potential risks of military exercises near civilian areas. It's a stark reminder that even routine drills can have serious consequences.
