Opella's New Owners: CD&R and BPI Jump In

Opella, the maker of popular French painkiller Doliprane, is changing hands. U. S. private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) has stepped up to take a majority 51% stake in the company. But they won't be the only new faces. The French government, through the Public Investment Bank (BPI), is also hopping on board with a 1% share, valued at a hefty EUR 150 million or approximately USD 163 million. This shift was approved by Sanofi's board and follows discussions between Sanofi, the French state, and CD&R. It seems like a big move for Opella, as it signals a significant change in ownership structure.
