Opening Our Eyes: Do College Students Know About Eye Donation?
Sunday, February 9, 2025
College students in Morang, Nepal were the focus. This study wanted to see, how much they know about eye donation and if they are willing to donate their eyes. The World Health Organization (WHO) has some shocking numbers. Every five seconds, someone loses their sight. That's a lot of people going blind. Around 45 million people can't see, and this number grows by 1 to 2 million each year. These numbers tell us that eye donation is a big deal. It can change the lives of people who have lost their sight.
It's also important to share some general knowledge. Eye donation isn't just about giving away a part of the eye. It's about helping someone see again. The cornea is the part that's usually donated and it can restore a person's sight. This is a gift that can change someone's life. A person can go from being blind to seeing the world again.
