Oracle's New AI-Powered EHR: A Fresh Take on Patient Records
USAWednesday, October 30, 2024
EHRs are crucial in modern healthcare, serving as digital medical histories updated by healthcare professionals over time. However, many of these systems are complex and time-consuming for clinicians. Oracle’s new EHR aims to change that by making the process more efficient. This system is the result of Oracle’s acquisition of Cerner, but it’s not built on Cerner’s existing infrastructure. Current Cerner customers will have to decide whether to switch to this new, standalone system.
Suhas Uliyar, Oracle’s senior vice president, demonstrated how the new EHR works. It’s browser-based and easy to use. Doctors see a search bar and a list of their appointments. They can ask questions like, "How many new patients do I have today? " and get quick AI-generated answers. The system can provide detailed medical histories, lab results, and even learn a doctor’s habits over time. It ensures that doctors spend less time on records and more time caring for patients.
