Mahomes had to persuade both the team trainers and Coach Andy Reid that he was fit to continue playing. Reid initially planned to replace him with backup quarterback Carson Wentz, but Mahomes insisted he could keep going. Injuries are always concerning when they happen, Mahomes explained. He expected his ankle to swell up during the week but believed he'd be ready for the next game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
