Paw Patrol Picks Up After San Ramon Sports Park

In the heart of San Ramon, a group of dog-loving families noticed something unpleasant about their favorite sports park. The park, which is a spot many love to visit, was starting to collect a lot of trash – plastic bottles, metal soda cans, and even surprising amounts of dog poop bags were littered around. "It seems like the city's cleaners are doing their job, but they can't get to these trails and walkways," remarks one of the group members. The trash problem sparked an idea – why not bring the community together for a little clean-up? Not only could they make the park sparkle again, but they could also teach kids the importance of keeping their neighborhood tidy.

This group, which has around 80 members, isn’t just any group – they’re a family of dog lovers who have been meeting daily at the park since the start of the pandemic. Organizer Ashish Mirji shares that their bonding goes beyond walks; they've celebrated puppy-themed birthdays, created Halloween magic, and even enjoyed festive Christmases together. This cleanup effort was just another way to enjoy each other's company while giving back to their community. By organizing this event, the group hopes to inspire others to take similar actions. Keeping the community clean is a responsibility that everyone can share, and sometimes, all it takes is a casual get-together to make a big difference. "If everyone did a little, it would add up to a lot," says Mirji.
