Pi Kappa Phi Hazing Case at Alabama: Students Charged

Four University of Alabama students faced charges for alleged fraternity hazing incidents. The pledge said he was shoved, stepped on, and had things thrown at him. Videos from Aug. 25 and Aug. 28 showed pledges being mistreated in the TV room and band room. These incidents were part of the fraternity’s 'Rules Night' and initiation rites. Christopher Molineaux, Grant Rakers, Joshua Ferrito, and Charles Grey were charged with hazing. Molineaux allegedly shoved a pledge, knocking him down. Rakers, Ferrito, and Grey were present but didn't stop or report the hazing. Another student, Stefan Maksimovich, was also charged.

Lawyers for the students made statements. Rakers' lawyer said they shouldn't judge until seeing the facts. Grey's lawyer said his client didn’t harm anyone and should not be punished for not reporting. They argued that fear of retribution might stop people from reporting hazing. The University of Alabama condemned hazing, which violates school policy and law. They investigated and issued warrants against the members. Pi Kappa Phi didn't respond immediately for comment.

Actions
