Hunter’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, defended the photos, stating they align with Hunter’s congressional testimony. Lowell criticized efforts to misinterpret the images as part of political attacks. America First Legal, a pro-Trump group, obtained the records through a public records request and lawsuit. They argue the photos support findings that Hunter facilitated access to his father’s political power for business gain.
The White House has dismissed the photos as old news, noting that House Republicans already investigated and found no evidence of business dealings between the President and his son. Hunter faced scrutiny and tax crime charges related to his foreign business deals, but was never accused of corruption. Joe Biden pardoned Hunter for these crimes, which included unpaid taxes from overseas deals.
