Polanski's 1973 Rape Case Settled Before Trial

A famous director, Roman Polanski, won't be going to trial next year in Los Angeles. The case is about an alleged rape that happened almost 50 years ago. His lawyer said the case was settled and both sides are happy with the outcome. The trial was supposed to happen in August 2025. The woman who made the claim said Polanski raped her when she was a teenager. She came forward in 2017 and said Polanski gave her drinks and took her to his home. She said she woke up next to him and told him no, but he didn't listen.

Polanski has been living outside the US since 1978 and would have had to appear in court via video. He fled the country after being accused of raping a 13-year-old girl. There have been tries to get him back to the US, but nothing has worked. Recently, he was in a trial in Paris for defamation. An actor said he sexually assaulted her when she was young. Polanski said it was a lie and was found not guilty in May.
