The first stage of a massive polio vaccination campaign in the Gaza Strip is set to conclude, with a major milestone achieved: nearly 530,000 children under the age of 10 have received the first dose of the vaccine. But the road to success is far from over. Health workers must now administer a booster round of vaccinations within a few weeks to ensure the effort is considered a success. 

The campaign has faced numerous challenges, including a brief detention of a UN convoy of aid and medical workers by Israeli troops on Monday. However, aside from that incident, the vaccination drive has proceeded relatively smoothly, with no major incidents reported on Wednesday.
