Post Falls Downtown: A New Mix of Homes and Food on the Horizon

Imagine walking through downtown Post Falls and seeing something new: a big building that combines apartments with a place to grab brunch. This project, led by mother-daughter duo Laura and Kelsey Horn, is set to change the face of the north block in downtown. The site is massive, covering about 50,000 square feet right next to Republic Kitchen + Taphouse. The Horns plan to open Miss Dazee's, a cozy brunch spot that's around 3,000 square feet, right at the corner of North Spokane Street and Fourth Avenue. But that's not all—they're also expanding the commercial space at 102 E. 4th Ave by incorporating the parcel to the east. Community Development Director Bob Seale thinks this location is perfect for a mixed-use building. "It's a key spot for reviving downtown Post Falls," he said. The Horns have already done some heavy lifting with the property, like cleaning up the soil, which took quite some effort.

The apartment building, named the Nonna building, will have 33 units spread across the top three floors. Seale considers this a much-needed addition to the downtown housing scene. Parking is also taken care of, with 18 on-street spots and 25 covered off-street spots for tenants. HDG Architecture is in charge of the project, aiming to give it a retro feel that reminds us of old Post Falls downtown from way back in the 1970s. They've also worked on other projects in the area, like Konala and the upcoming Rooted coffee shop. The goal is for this new building to kickstart more development in the neighborhood. Seale emphasized that this project aligns perfectly with the city center master plan. It's expected to be wrapped up sometime in 2026.
