They looked at over two thousand patients, checking things like how they felt about their recovery, their physical and mental quality of life, and even their personal traits. They found that treatment control was crucial. Interestingly, what matters for physical quality of life might not be the same as what matters for mental quality of life. The models created were pretty good at predicting outcomes, ranging from fair to good. This shows that using standardized patient reports could lead to more personalized care. It also means medical decisions could be based on solid science.
