A recent hearing on Capitol Hill took an unexpected turn when protesters interrupted Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. The disruption was unusual, to say the least.

The Unusual Protest

One protester shouted a famous line from the movie The Exorcist, saying:

"The power of Christ compels you!"

They demanded an end to ICE raids and deportations. Noem, however, stayed calm and smiled through the interruption.

The protesters were quickly removed by Capitol police. They were holding signs that read:

  • "Stop ICE raids"
  • "Codepink" (likely a reference to an anti-war group)

Another protester stood up and shouted:

"Get ICE off our streets! Stop terrorizing our communities!"

They held a sign that said:

  • "No ICE, no troops!"

Pressure on Noem to Resign

This incident happened as Noem faces increasing pressure to resign. House Democrats have been calling for her resignation due to her handling of immigration policies under the Trump administration.

During the hearing, Mississippi Representative Bennie Thompson, the top Democrat on the committee, directly addressed Noem:

"Rather than wasting our time with more corruption, lies, and lawlessness, I call on you to resign."

Noem defended her actions, stating that the Trump administration works every day to make America safe again. She also mentioned that she was honored to have her family with her at the hearing.

Growing Tensions Over Immigration Tactics

The hearing comes at a time when there is growing tension between federal agents and the public over immigration tactics. These tactics include:

  • Using military-grade equipment like flash-bang grenades and armored personnel carriers.
  • Reports of using smartwatches to track pregnant immigrants, even during labor.
