Imagine struggling with anxiety and trying to quit smoking at the same time. It's a tough combo. You might wonder, what can be done to help? That's where a new smartphone app comes into the picture.

This app, called MASP (short for Mobile Anxiety Sensitivity Program for Smoking) targeting Black adults who smoke and have high anxiety. The goal of the MASP app is to make quitting more effective for those dealing with anxiety by targeting a tendency - anxiety sensitivity - that can make smoking cessation tougher. The app is specifically designed to help Black adults who smoke and have higher anxiety.

Anxiety sensitivity is a fear of anxiety-related sensations. It's a known factor for smoking relapse and culturally relevant to many in the Black community.  By creating a smartphone app that caters to these specific challenges and provides Black adults with tools and support for their quitting journey, the app may help increase the success rate of quitting.
