A Major Revamp for a Classic MMORPG

The long‑running MMORPG R2 is marking two decades since its launch with a major update called “Departure.” This release aims to clean up the game world, give players more ways to grow their characters, and make servers run smoother. The developers say they want the new content to let people feel the thrill of progress faster and with more choice.

New Leveling System

Instead of simply adding new monsters or items, the team has redesigned how players level up. A big part of this is a seasonal Adventure Log System:

  • Complete 200 tasks, from easy item hunts to hard boss fights.
  • As you finish more entries, your character’s stats rise.
  • The log is only available for a limited time each season to keep the challenge fresh and avoid fatigue.

Trait Enhancement Skills

To help players get stronger, new trait enhancement skills have been added to every class. These changes tweak both how the skills work and when they can be used, making combat more strategic. For example, some new abilities will hurt if you are under a debuff, so players must choose when to cast spells carefully.

Revamped Mission System

The update also revamps the mission system:

  • Old quests were either too hard or impossible; the new version offers clearer goals and better rewards.
  • Weekly missions now give EXP Amplification Runes, items that boost experience points, making grinding a bit easier for everyone.

Balancing Adjustments

Balancing the game was a major hurdle. The team:

  • Raised the damage of key skills to match what players actually use, ensuring that both PvP and PvE feel fair.
  • Boosted existing skills that had become less useful as the game progressed, so players can still rely on them during hunts.

Looking Ahead

The developers promise to keep adding fresh systems and listening closely to player feedback. They hope the “Departure” update will feel like a new beginning for R2, and they thank fans for sticking with the game over 20 years.
