Rams Coach Sean McVay: Cold Weather Won't Stop Us
The Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams are set to face off in a chilly showdown at Soldier Field. The forecast predicts snow and temperatures around 20 degrees, making it the coldest game the Rams have played this season. However, Rams coach Sean McVay isn't worried.
Experience in Cold Weather
McVay pointed out that the upcoming conditions aren't as harsh as what the Rams encountered last season. They played in two particularly cold games against the Eagles and Jets, and quarterback Matthew Stafford performed well in both. McVay believes that Stafford's experience in cold weather gives the team an advantage.
"We've faced cold weather before. Matthew has played in these conditions. It doesn't change much. We just need to be mindful of wind and rain affecting our footing. We adapt and adjust. Our players have experience in these situations, and we won't use the weather as an excuse."
Focus on Mental Toughness
McVay emphasized that the team's focus this week isn't on the weather. He believes in controlling what they can control.
"We can't control the weather. We don't have a weather machine. But we have players who are used to playing in cold conditions, whether from previous teams or college games in outdoor stadiums. We talk about mental toughness and controlling what we can. Stay warm off the field, and when you're out there, your adrenaline will kick in. The ball might be a bit slick, but let's go out there and play."
Adapting to Conditions
The Rams' ability to adapt to different conditions has been a key factor in their success. McVay's confidence in his team's mental toughness and experience in cold weather shows that they are prepared for whatever Chicago throws at them.
