Last fall, an attack on Kibbutz Be'eri left deep scars, both physically and emotionally. While some residents are determined to come back and restore their community, others aren't yet ready to face the aftermath of that traumatic day. The military has admitted to making mistakes in keeping everyone safe, which doesn't help people feel secure again.
It's not easy for a community to bounce back from such a devastating event. Some places were destroyed beyond repair, and even the ones that can be fixed will always carry the memories of what happened. It's understandable why some residents are hesitant to return; it’s not just about fixing broken windows or rebuilding walls, but also overcoming the fear and pain that linger in the air.
The military acknowledged their failures, which is a big step towards healing. However, this admission doesn't erase what happened or make anyone feel completely safe again. It’s a long road ahead for Kibbutz Be'eri to regain its spirit and unity. Every day brings new challenges, from dealing with the emotional trauma to facing the reality of rebuilding their homes and community center.
