Remedy Entertainment, famous for its single-player games like Alan Wake 2 and Control, is stepping into the multiplayer world for the first time in 29 years. Their latest game, FBC: Firebreak, was unveiled at the Xbox October Partner Preview. This three-player co-op shooter is set inside The Oldest House from Control. Players team up as Federal Bureau of Control agents to tackle para-natural threats.
FBC: Firebreak isn't your typical live service game. It's designed to be easy to pick up and play. You don't need to log in daily or spend hours tweaking your loadouts. The game focuses on fun with friends, not on missing out on loot. While there is player progression and things to unlock, it's not the main attraction.
The game captures the otherworldly elements that made Control a hit. Remedy's Northlight Engine is used to create detailed weapons and environments. The mission-based structure looks promising, even though we've only seen a little so far.
Remedy has been hinting at this multiplayer game since 2021. Known as Project Condor, it shares the Control universe and is a premium experience, not free-to-play. Today, we got a clearer picture of what the game is all about: a fast-paced shooter with Remedy's unique touch.
More details will emerge, especially after PlayStation Studios' struggles with the PvP shooter Concord. But FBC: Firebreak, scheduled for 2025 on PC, Xbox Series X, and Game Pass, looks intriguing.
