Remedy's New Multiplayer Game: Firebreak Hits Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus on Day One

Remedy Entertainment has just unveiled its first-ever multiplayer game, Firebreak, set in the same paranormal world as the studio's action game Control. This co-op shooter, launching next year, will be available on both Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus on day one. This strategy is unusual, as most games either stick to one service or the other. But Firebreak aims to attract a wide player base by removing any entry barriers on consoles.

Firebreak takes place in the Old House, the same Federal Bureau of Control homebase filled with yellow post-it notes. Up to three players can team up for missions reminiscent of Left 4 Dead. Remedy wants to avoid the common pitfalls of modern multiplayer games by making Firebreak a pick-up-and-play experience rather than a daily commitment. On PC, Remedy acknowledges that its games have high hardware requirements. To make Firebreak more accessible, the studio plans to optimize it for a wider range of PC hardware, including the Steam Deck. This way, more players can join in the fun without compromising the game's visual quality. For now, fans can look forward to the upcoming games of 2024 and beyond to see what else is in store.
