Remembering Aidan: A Community's Fight Against Youth Suicide

Aidan Hegge, a 17-year-old student at Kasson-Mantorville High School, died by suicide on a hot July day in 2020. To put this into perspective, every day in the United States, 20 young people die by suicide. For every person who dies by suicide, 280 others seriously consider it. These statistics became a harsh reality for the Hegge family in Kasson, Minnesota. Aidan was known for his kindness and positive spirit. He was a friend to many and a beacon of light to those who were hurting. He was a 17-year-old who made a difference in the lives of those around him. Today, his light continues to shine through Aidan's Light, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing youth suicide. Aidan's Light focuses on advocacy and charitable giving to both national and local charities. The organization aims to provide local schools with the necessary resources to raise awareness about youth mental health and prevent suicide. The 5th Annual Aidan Hegge Memorial Golf Tournament is coming up on June 28th, 2025. This event is open to both golfers and non-golfers. By participating, attendees can help honor Aidan's memory and raise funds for suicide prevention and youth mental health.

The tournament will take place at the Dodge Country Club in Dodge Center, Minnesota. Registration starts at 10:00 am, with the tee-off at 11:00 am. The event will feature live music from Bryan Akervik from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The registration fee is $350 per team, plus cart fees. This fee includes a box lunch, dinner, live music, on-course contests, and additional raffles. Non-golfers are welcome to attend as well.
