Rethinking Knee Surgery: What Really Helps?
Wednesday, December 25, 2024
Scientists wanted to find out, so they looked at how these surgeries change the pressure and strength in the knee. They found that fixing the trochlea helped reduce pressure and keep the knee strong. But moving the tibial tubercle didn't seem to help much. In fact, it didn't change the pressure or strength in the knee at all.
So, why does this matter? Well, understanding which surgery works best can help doctors make better choices for their patients. It also helps us understand more about how our knees work and what causes problems in the first place.
